The most famous monument throughout the whole of the Philippines Rizal park monument This Park was once called Luneta.The parks history began in the early 1820's during the Spanish rule Luneta as it was once named has been the site for some of the most important moment in Philippine history. On December 30 1896 Dr. Jose Rizal was executed on this site Dr.Jose Rizal death made him a hero of the Philippine people and a hero for the Philippine revolution against the Spanish invaders. Luneta was the place for many public executions during the Spanish rule it became notorious for executions of political enemies and criminals. On the 17th anniversary of Dr.Jose Rizal death the monument was unveiled December 30 1913 this is not only a monument to pay tribute to this national hero it is also the house of his remains.
