Rizal park monument

The most famous monument throughout the whole of the Philippines Rizal park monument This Park was once called Luneta.The parks history began in the early 1820's during the Spanish rule Luneta as it was once named has been the site for some of the most important moment in Philippine history. On December 30 1896 Dr. Jose Rizal was executed on this site Dr.Jose Rizal death made him a hero of the Philippine people and a hero for the Philippine revolution against the Spanish invaders. Luneta was the place for many public executions during the Spanish rule it became notorious for executions of political enemies and criminals. On the 17th anniversary of Dr.Jose Rizal death the monument was unveiled December 30 1913 this is not only a monument to pay tribute to this national hero it is also the house of his remains. Rizal Park Monument is located very close to where Dr. Jose Rizal was executed. This monument is guarded 24 hrs a day by traditional soldiers.

A gift to the Philippine people from the Korean government for appreciation for the valuable contribution the Philippines made during the Korean War to honour the memory of the freedom loving Filipino. The story of Lapu Lapu the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan first arrived in Cebu city Philippines with his fleet of ships on 7th of April 1521 Ferdinand Magellan and his men were welcome by the local people. It was not until later that Ferdinand Magellan true intensions where uncovered he plans to claim the whole of the Philippines Islands for Spain. On 27 of April 15 21 Magellan came ashore with a 100 men and he was ambushed by native chieftain Lapu Lapu and his 1000 men the Spanish invader was clearly outnumbered Magellan and most of his men died during this battle.
